Dhruva Space
Dhruva Space is a full-stack Space Engineering solutions provider based in Hyderabad, India, and is India’s first private Space-Technology startup. The company undertakes the building, launching and operating of satellites, while supporting Civilian and Defense clients worldwide.
Dhruva Space indigenously designs, develops and tests its wide gamut of products and services: satellites, satellite orbital deployers, and Earth stations.
The company was founded by Sanjay Nekkanti in 2012. The company’s other co-founders – Krishna Teja Penamakuru, Abhay Egoor, and Chaitanya Dora Surapureddy – came onboard in 2018.
Over the years since the company's inception in 2012, Dhruva Space has seen many remarkable milestones. In October 2020, Dhruva Space was awarded the National Startup Award by the Government of India for its work in Satellite and Space Technology.
On 24 June 2022, Dhruva Space became one of the first private companies to receive authorization from IN-SPACe; this was ahead of the 30 June ISRO PSLV-C53 mission which led to the successful space-qualification of Dhruva Space’s 1U Satellite Orbital Deployer.
What followed was the Thybolt Mission on 26 November which saw the launch onboard ISRO’s PSLV-C54 of the first two private Indian satellites authorized by IN-SPACe to be successfully deployed in orbit.
